Job Description - Full Time Position
General Position Summary:
The Event Manager is responsible for the planning, implementation, and oversight of Visit Lake Geneva Events, Programs, and Organizational gatherings. Additionally, the Event Manager will handle Partnership Concierge Services as needed.
We are seeking an experienced individual in event management to lead our organization in the development of new events, grow existing events, and building of strong working relationships with partners, volunteers, sponsors, and vendors.
This position is responsible for all phases of planning, organizing, managing, and implementing designated programs and events. Additionally, it will require servicing of key business development projects coming into the area. Existing events currently include Winterfest, Tourism Summit, Restaurant Week, Concerts in the Park, Annual Dinner, and the Christmas Parade.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and oversee all special events, including but not limited to: event budgets, sponsorship packages, servicing events, marketing materials, event preliminary, on-site and post production.
Coordinate with the team on the logistical components of events and projects.
Highly efficient in the event planning and implementation process.
Create organizational timeline to coordinate with other staff positions regarding public relations, marketing, and other promotional opportunities.
Provide periodic progress reports and a final report summary for each event.
Responsible for sponsorship development, management, and sponsorship sales.
Create committees and recruit/direct volunteers as necessary for each event.
Conduct research and find resources on possible new events that align with the destination.
Work collaboratively with all stakeholders
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Candidate should have a love for event management, be an enthusiastic professional who enjoys interaction with people, and provide leadership to grow this position and the events portfolio. Must be able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, meet deadlines with little supervision, and be willing to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
Candidate should have proven sponsorship development and sales experience, excellent verbal and written communications skills, and experience with recruiting and managing volunteers. Must be comfortable with public speaking and group situations.
High School diploma required, additional post-secondary education or degree in Event Management, Business Administration, Marketing or Communications is desired. Some travel may be required including overnight stays. Salary commensurate with experience.
