We’re proud to serve marinated and dry rubbed lamb and pork, and locally raised, grain fed, anti-biotic and hormone free chicken that have been slow roasted outdoors over real hard wood charcoal – just like our family has done for many years. All three are prepared to enjoy as an entrée or as a sandwich, too. We also craft some incredible burgers, using choice beef daily. If you feel like stopping in for a fish fry (please do!) the perch and walleye, from the Great Lakes region, are wild caught and hand breaded to order. SIMPLE | LAKE GENEVA, WI

simplebakerymarket_logo

VLG: Tell us a bit about who your organization is, and what you are all about.
At Simple Café and Simple Bakery & Market, we try to run the business with a focus on relationships and this is pervasive throughout the organization.  As much as possible, we’re purchasing items from actual people we have met in our region to use on our rotating seasonal menus throughout the year. These are people we know grow a high quality product, treat their work with respect and share some of our values.  We love to celebrate food and people coming out to share a good meal by making their experience a memorable one.

VLG: How long have you been involved with Restaurant Week?
This will be our second year participating, but in a different capacity than the first time.

VLG: Are there any other ways that your organization gets involved with your community?
We’re very interested in seeing the Lake Geneva community, and surrounding areas, grow and in neighbors supporting one another along the way.  A great deal of our growth at the Café came from wonderful groups, such as Side by Side, hosting fundraisers at our location.  We believe that growing a business by cultivating and caring for relationships will help lead to a more sustainable future for the entire community.  More specifically, we do host many fundraisers at our café throughout the year for a variety of non-profit organizations and choose to donate to local causes and events as we are able.

VLG: What is your favorite part of Restaurant Week & why?
I love that it gets people talking about and celebrating food!  Food has a way of bringing people together and I think an entire week focusing on sharing a good meal with good people is a great place to start in re-building communities!

VLG: Restaurant Week draws a lot of attention from people outside of Lake Geneva. What would you like people, who are new to your organization, to know about you?
We just want people to know they are welcome!

The restaurant recently underwent major renovations, including a great new outdoor bar, so it’s a must-visit spot for Restaurant Week this year!

VLG: How long have you been involved with Restaurant Week?
The Waterfront has been participating since the beginning of Restaurant Week! It’s something we really look forward to each year, especially this coming year as we will have just re-opened with a new menu, expanded seating and our all-new seasonal outdoor bar area overlooking Abbey Harbor that Restaurant Week patrons will really enjoy.

The Waterfront is located within The Abbey Resort, which is involved in the community in a number of ways including regular participation in both the Lakeland Animal Shelter and Fontana Police Department annual food drives.

VLG: What is your favorite part of Restaurant Week & why?
We are particularly excited for this year’s Restaurant Week because we will be showcasing our newly renovated restaurant and fresh new menu to diners. This year we will be featuring some of our best new menu items, such as our signature pork shoulder and baby back ribs both smoked in-house and some really fun featured drinks such as our Poteet Punch featuring limoncello, vodka and fresh strawberry.  Restaurant Weeks provided us with the perfect opportunity to really showcase this new menu as well as our renovations and expanded seating.

VLG: Restaurant Week draws a lot of attention from people outside of Lake Geneva. What would you like people, who are new to your organization, to know about you?
It’s no secret that it’s the lake that draws people to the area, and they should know that The Waterfront provides a second-to-none view of Geneva Lake. While they will certainly enjoy the food and drinks served at The Waterfront, the view – especially from our new outdoor bar area – is something they can’t get at just any area bar and grill.
