Geneva Lake Arts Foundation, Inc. is proud to host the Annual High School Art Show at their Gallery 223, located at 223 Broad Street in downtown Lake Geneva. Area high schools including Badger, Big Foot, Delavan/Darien, East Troy, Elkhorn, Whitewater and Williams Bay were each invited to submit 10 pieces of artwork created by their students. These pieces, which include paintings, drawings, sculpture and 3D art will be on display at a special showing at Gallery 223 from 10 am to 5 pm Friday April 14 through Sunday, April 16. The GLAF encourages area residents to come and appreciate and support the artwork done by these talented students who hope to pursue their dreams through higher education.
The show will be judged and awards, including monetary awards, will be announced at a ceremony for participants and families on Thursday, April 13.
The awards will include the Neal and Dotsy Heffernan Best of Show, the Louis Mergener Memorial Award for Outstanding Work, the Martin Smith Award for Creative Work, the John L. Larson Award for Most Innovative, the GLAF Award for Young Emerging Artist, and five GLAF Awards of Recognition.
Artist and educator Lisa Dukowitz will be judging the show this year. She is a GLAF member and has been an art educator at the upper high school and college level for more than 20 years. She earned her MFA from the UW-Milwaukee Peck School of the Arts in Painting and Drawing and studied Printmaking in Florence, Italy. She has exhibited in a number of juried events and Midwest travel publications. Currently her work an be seen at Gallery 223.
