Wisconsin native Bill Stokes is a retired journalist who began his career in Stevens Point Wisconsin. In his thirty-five-year career, Bill has written for various newspapers including Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Wisconsin State Journal in Madison, and The Chicago Tribune. After an eleven-year career at the Tribune, Stokes retired in 1994. Stokes's literary contributions have complied with half a dozen books as well as publications such as The Readers Digest, Outdoor Life, and SportsAfield. He has authored several children’s books as well as the novel Margaret’s War, which was published in 2019. This piece of fiction is the culmination of 50 years of research and revision concerning thousands of German POWs scattered across the nation after the end of World War II. Margaret’s War specifically takes place in a small Midwestern town where POWs were used to help harvest and process agricultural crops.
