Here’s a sneak peak of our presenters and topics
Lisa Oldson, MD (Host)
Dr. Lisa is your host, and she’ll give a fresh, new talk on increasing your healthspan. Her passion is helping people reach and maintain their healthy weight, by sharing the latest science and closing the door on unhelpful concepts like, "eat less, move more." Her programs focus not only on weight loss, but also on habit change to improve health and optimize the HEALTHSPAN. Longevity alone isn’t everything. Living longer HEALTHIER, is the goal.
Mary Leopold
Mary is a psychotherapist with over 30 years of experience, specializing in treating children and adults. Her practice in Northbrook, Illinois, focuses on the vital connection between mind and body. After earning her health coach certification in 2017 from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, she deepened her interest in integrating mental health and nutrition.
Mary uses a range of complementary approaches tailored to each individual, aiming to help clients achieve emotional, physical, and mental balance. She’s excited to be at the retreat, and looks forward to discussing how to manage challenging relationships while maintaining a healthy mind and body.
Sarah Squires-Doyle
Sarah has spent over 25 years in health promotion and disease prevention as an educator, coach, and consultant, helping countless individuals and organizations enhance their health and longevity. About five years ago, after facing significant losses and stress-related health issues, she discovered the healing power of expressive writing. This new passion led her to become a Master Trained Memoir Teacher and start a career in expressive writing, focusing on its therapeutic benefits. She now leads workshops and writing groups, helping participants experience the healing process of writing rather than focusing on crafting perfect stories.
Lorrie Lynch Meier
For more than two decades Lorrie has been studying and teaching yoga in Washington, D.C. gyms, churches and community settings. Since her RYT-200 Yoga Alliance certification in 2012, Lorrie has focused on leading vinyasa flow practices. More recently she has been teaching alignment-centered, Iyengar-based techniques that can make yoga more accessible to students of all ages. She loves nothing more than watching students try new moves.
"I believe yoga is for everybody in every type of body. Yoga can help us face our fears on many levels, prepare our bodies for the roads ahead, and learn to practice breath and rest."
Karyn Byrne, PhD
Karyn is a passionate therapist and community psychologist dedicated to redefining wellness. Her personal journey, once dominated by the pursuit of thinness, underwent a profound transformation through the experiences of motherhood and journey of self reflection. This shift allowed her to find happiness independent of physical appearance, embracing a sense of contentment that transcends body image.
Karyn’s current research focuses on the intricate relationship between stress, mindset, and health. Her groundbreaking work in this area earned her the Outstanding Dissertation Award in Advancing Professional Practice in 2023. Karyn believes that while our mind and body are connected, our true essence is far greater than the sum of these parts.
