Sketch of the Team New Hampshire snow sculpture

Picture of Team New Hampshire snow sculptors

Team Name: Granite State Snow Carvers

Sculpture Title: Friends

Artist Statement:  Two friends, seeking a brief escape from the burdens of the world, set aside their devices and distractions. They stroll to a charming park in the heart of downtown Lake Geneva, where they share laughter, conversation, and the simple joy of ice cream. In that moment, they honor their connection and cherish the warmth of true friendship.

Team Members:

  • John Woodard (Captain): John began carving when a snowstorm in 2009 inspired him to create something different than your average snowman for his son who was just a toddler. Since then, he has refined his craft and built bigger more elaborate snow carvings whenever Mother Nature provides enough snow to accommodate - which is not often enough to satisfy the desire to carve that was ignited during that fateful snow storm. His fondest memory of Lake Geneva is the scenery and the people that he has experienced every time he is honored with being in the annual competition. His favorite place to eat is Oakfire Pizza.

  • Jeff Brown: Jeff Brown is an award winning multimedia artist, 3d animator, illustrator, and sculptor. He is also a professional pumpkin carver who has competed on Food Network's Halloween Wars. His fondest memory of Lake Geneva is his first time sculpting here in 2020. He was blown away by the kindness and warm welcome from everyone involved with the event, it made the unforgettable experience truly special.

  • Glenn Woodard: He is an avid outdoor adventurer and photographer who loves to travel to pursue both interests. Has been carving snow with team captain, and cousin, John Woodard, for several years. As a team they have won the NH sanctioned twice and won the 2020 Nationals People's choice and Second Place overall. His fondest memory of competition in Lake Geneva is the first time getting to town and seeing how large the snow blocks were and how nice the snow quality was compare to what they were used to. He always looks forward to carving in Lake Geneva!
