Mission
Open Arms Free Clinic, Inc. (OAFC) is focused on providing equitable access to health care for county residents of all ages. As a private nonprofit organization, Open Arms has been able to leverage the support from volunteers and private philanthropy to provide quality health care at no cost to qualifying patients. The mission is to better understand and serve with compassion the health and wellness needs of the low-income and uninsured residents of Walworth County, Wisconsin. Our dedicated volunteers serve the community in all its ethnic, religious, and economic diversity. Our goal is for our patients and their families to have the same medical attention with respect and dignity we would want for our friends and families.
Community Resources
70% of our patients are employed and do not have health insurance coverage, 20% of whom come from the restaurant industry and 5% from hotels - both large industries in the Lake Geneva community. Another specific program would be the Seal-a-Smile program, which goes into all county schools to do free oral health screenings and can refer children back to our dental clinic for care, as we are the only dental clinic in all of Walworth County that accepts Medicaid (BadgerCare Insurance).
Most urgent needs
As a private nonprofit organization, Open Arms has been able to leverage the support from volunteers and private philanthropy to provide quality health care at no cost to qualifying patients. We need licensed professional volunteers, specifically in Dental Hygiene and Registered Nurses and we need funding for Uber Health - a reliable transportation option for our patients to get to and from appts, when transportation is such a concern for so many in our county and public transportation is not an option.
