               Mission

Thomas E. Reynolds founded The Environmental Education Foundation in 1980. The EEF is a non-profit foundation designed to award educational scholarships and grants to area students and schools for environmental-centered studies and to promote environmental awareness to all ages of the Geneva Lakes area. We strive to inspire and equip our educators, students and community members to value and protect our amazing lake environment. We do this work through three main programs. 1. Supporting Outdoor Education programs in 12 local elementary schools. 2. Awarding EEF Grants to area teachers and researchers to directly engage students in environmentally focused research experiences. 3. Provide scholarships to students in the Geneva Lake area to pursue degrees in environmentally related fields.

               Community Resources

Outdoor Education- Partnering with our local schools, we continue to seek ways to support teachers in their quest to provide challenging and compelling, hands-on research experiences for their students that will inspire our local young people to become citizen scientists equipped to protect the natural treasures in our area. We support 12 area elementary schools - each year these students go outdoors for experiential learning programs that include testing water and soil, learning about native plants and animals and pitching in to pluck out invasive plants and clean up local areas by picking up trash.

               Most Urgent Need

We are focused each year on the ability to provide grants and scholarships to students and teachers and to support a variety of asks from local schools and educators in the Geneva Lake area. Each year we support over 300 local elementary aged students during their outdoor education programs.

We have recently been asked to assist and support an upcoming program at Badger High School - Science Environ-Thon as they are in need of entrance fees, travel, hotel, etc. We hope to fund other asks such as purchasing seeds for a school project to see if butterflies prefer one color flower over another, purchasing waders so students can get in the water and study the lake and we have been asked for funding to cover the start up costs to fund a high school science club. These are some of our urgent needs at this time as we strive to be able to cover the needs in our area.
