BLOCK #1 | ILLINOIS

TEAM NAME:
Cave People From Space
SCULPTURE TITLE:
"Good Oy"
ARTIST STATEMENT:
The idea for this sculpture began after one of our teammates read “The Dark Tower,” by Stephen King. From that spark, grew a larger reflection on the bond between humans and animals - and how, even in the hardest moments, that connection can bring out the best in us. Our sculpture captures a cowboy, his face etched with the lines of many hardships, paused in quiet reflection. Beside him sits his loyal dog, gazing up with patient eyes, perhaps hoping for a small bite to share. In this simple exchange we see a story of endurance, trust and companionship. Carved from snow, this piece honors the during strength of those who carry their burdens with quiet dignity, and the steadfast presence of animals who walk beside them. It’s a moment suspended in time were resilience meets tenderness, and we’re even the coldest landscape reveals warmth.
