SCULPTURE TITLE:
Organic Cubes
ARTIST STATEMENT:
Dualism argues that reality consists of two fundamental, opposing, and irreducible principles that explain everything that exists. In some cases, beings cooperate and contribute equally to creation. Sometimes, they compete, such as good and evil, light and darkness, beauty and ugliness. We present a surface form stretched over the shape formed by the arrangement of geometric pieces within itself transforms it into a living organism. The work addresses the tension and contrast arising from this duality with a sculptural understanding of form.

Ceyhun Konak (Captain): Born in Trabzon in 1980, he graduated from the Sculpture Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 2004. He completed his Master's degree in Sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 2006. He also completed his Proficiency in Art at the same university in 2012. Ceyhun started making sculptures in 1999 when he enrolled in this department at University. He is a world renowned sculptor and recently completed a massive metal sculpture for the country of Turkey in remembrance of historical events in Turkey. He is also a professor of sculpture at University.
