Mission
The American Legion Post #327 is dedicated to serving veterans, strengthening communities, fostering patriotism, and promoting Americanism. Our mission is to provide direct support to veterans and military families through financial assistance, mental health resources, career services, and community reintegration efforts. We uphold Americanism by honoring our nation's values, engaging in civic education, and promoting respect for the flag, democracy, and military service.
Our vision is to build a resilient and engaged community where veterans, children, and families thrive. We invest in youth mentorship programs, scholarships, and leadership development initiatives to empower future generations. By addressing economic hardship, mental health challenges, and community engagement, we align with United Way’s goals of financial stability, health, and youth development. Together, we create a stronger, more patriotic Walworth County, ensuring no veteran or child is left behind.
Community Resources
As a newly revitalized Post, American Legion Post 327 has already made a significant impact in just three months. We provided life-saving support to a local veteran in crisis, ensuring he received counseling, housing assistance, employment resources, and transportation support—allowing him to rebuild his life and contribute to a veteran-owned business. We also promoted Americanism by revitalizing the flagpole in the town of Lyons (population 3,600+), ensuring a visible symbol of patriotism and civic pride.
Americanism is more than flag displays—it’s active engagement in our country’s core values, fostering respect for service, democracy, and community responsibility. Additionally, Post 327 was the only American Legion post in Walworth County to support Toys for Tots, helping provide over 1,000 children with gifts this past Christmas, strengthening families and spreading hope. Our rapid impact demonstrates our commitment to veterans, families, and the community, ensuring no one is left behind.
Most urgent needs
At this time, in addition to funds, spreading the word that we are a new Post in support of the younger generation of Veterans in the community. We are looking for modernized support.
