               Mission

The American Legion Post #327 is dedicated to serving veterans, strengthening communities, fostering patriotism, and promoting Americanism. Our mission is to provide direct support to veterans and military families through financial assistance, mental health resources, career services, and community reintegration efforts. We uphold Americanism by honoring our nation's values, engaging in civic education, and promoting respect for the flag, democracy, and military service. We strive to:

- To build a community of like-minded veterans who share our values, respect each others’ differences, and make everyone feel welcome.
- To foster camaraderie, be a support system for one another personally and professionally, and be a safe haven for those experiencing challenges.
- To collaborate with local businesses and organizations on outreach initiatives in the community while embracing the tools and technology of today.

Our vision is to build a resilient and engaged community where veterans, children, and families thrive. We invest in youth mentorship programs, scholarships, and leadership development initiatives to empower future generations. By addressing economic hardship, mental health challenges, and community engagement, we align with United Way’s goals of financial stability, health, and youth development. Together, we create a stronger, more patriotic Walworth County, ensuring no veteran or child is left behind.

               Community Resources

As a newly revitalized Post, American Legion Post 327 has already made a significant impact. Through 2025, our small but mighty group has rallied and supported:

- Veterans in mental and financial distress
- Honored our fallen alongside our Lyons community on Memorial Day
- Tree House Child and Family Center — working to build a community where every child feels safe, supported, and seen
- A veteran family-owned business
- Veterans Path to Hope and New Horizons — providing transitional housing for up to 20 homeless veterans
- Serenity Horse Rescue Inc — rescuing horses from slaughter and rehabilitating them for adoption or a new life in equine therapy for our community
- Inspired our youth at Lake Geneva Middle School on Veterans Day
- Toys for Tots, in partnership with Circle of Friends Thrift — delivering joy to economically disadvantaged children across Walworth County each Christmas
- Donated chickens for the holidays to The Bridge Food & Diaper Bank who serves approximately 450 Walworth County households every month

We’ve also budgeted a reserve fund and curated providers to assist veterans who’ve fallen through the cracks of our Veterans Affairs system — including support for:

- mental health,
- resume and transition assistance,
- disability services, and
- dental hygiene

               Most urgent needs

We are a dedicated group committed to uplifting our local community, especially veterans, children, and families in need. We seek funding to sustain and expand our initiatives that address mental health, housing, education, and support services, helping those who have served our country and those who require assistance.

In our community, veterans face significant challenges, including mental health issues and financial distress, often exacerbated by a lack of adequate support services. Our initiatives address these urgent needs, fostering a healthier, more supportive environment.

This will not only provide immediate assistance but also build a sustainable support system for our community. We have established a reserve fund to ensure ongoing support for veterans who have fallen through the cracks of the Veterans Affairs system, focusing on mental health, resume and transition assistance, disability services, and dental hygiene.

Together, we can ensure that veterans, children, and families receive the support they desperately need, fostering a resilient and empowered community.
